Masai Mara, Kenya

Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you travel towards Kenya’s fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment, keeping a lookout for the charming chapel built at its foot. Pass the impressive Longonot Earth Satellite Station as you head across the valley to Narok, before travelling across acres of wheat and barley fields.

You reach the picturesque Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. Following a welcome post-lunch siesta, set off on an exciting afternoon game drive, returning to the Mara Sopa Lodge as the sun sets.

Day 3: Spot Big Game in the Masai Mara

Head off on an early morning game drive in the Masai Mara. Depending on the time of year you choose to visit, you may experience the thrill of seeing thousands upon thousands of wildebeest migrating across these green plains. Spend the rest of the day at leisure before setting out on an afternoon game drive. Experience a guided walking safari or simply relax beside the pool.

A highly recommended way to experience the Masai Mara is on a dawn hot-air balloon safari that culminates with a champagne breakfast in the bush after landing. In the evening, savour a delicious barbecue while enjoying an African-themed night.

Day 4: See flamingos at Lake Nakuru | 1 Night

Up arrow

Lake Nakuru

Leaving the Masai Mara after breakfast, you travel across the ‘bread basket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley cover the landscape. Continue north as you make your way to Narok.

Travel across the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle, as you head up the Mau Escarpment to Lake Nakuru. Once in the park, you enjoy an exciting game drive to spot rhino, lion, and buffalo en route to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

Day 5: Game-spotting in Amboseli | 2 Nights

Up arrow

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Leave Lake Nakuru behind and continue your journey to Amboseli, stopping along the way for a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Pass through Nairobi and the town of Emali before arriving at Amboseli Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy another game drive in Amboseli National Park, returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

Day 6: Explore the Amboseli National Park

Up arrow

Explore Amboseli on morning and afternoon game drives, and guided walking safaris. Lunch will be a delicious picnic at a safe site while out on your drive. Learn more about the Maasai culture and traditions at the in-house culture centre or head out on a memorable visit to a nearby Maasai village.

Day 7: Day of departure

Up arrow

Following an early morning game drive and delicious breakfast, catch your last clear early morning view of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you leave Amboseli behind.
